Teaching Experience
Rebecca McCarthy School of Dance
Dance Instructor | 2022–Present
Mrs. Alberts currently teaches:
Tap • Irish Step • Hardshoe • Lyrical
While specializing in these styles, she maintains a passion for the full range of dance disciplines offered at RMSD.
As both a former RMSD student and current faculty member, Sofia has a unique understanding of the studio experience from both sides of the classroom. She is passionate about creating the same sense of connection, encouragement, and joy for today’s dancers that she experienced growing up at RMSD.
Special Events & Performance
Sofia has a particular passion for the St. Patrick’s Day season and enjoys working alongside Ms. McCarthy to help bring each year’s performances and productions to life.
Her experience with Irish Step and Hardshoe, combined with her background as an RMSD dancer, makes her an important part of the studio’s Irish dance programming and seasonal performances.
Teaching Philosophy
For Mrs. Alberts, teaching at RMSD is especially meaningful because she has experienced the studio herself as a young dancer.
Having grown up training at RMSD, she understands the lasting impact a dance studio can have on a child’s life—not only through technique and performance, but through the friendships, confidence, discipline, and memories created along the way.
She is passionate about helping the next generation of dancers develop their skills while creating a positive environment where they feel encouraged to learn, perform, grow, and discover their own love of dance.
For Sofia, returning to RMSD as an instructor is an opportunity to give back to the studio that played such an important role in her own life.
Beyond The Studio
Sofia lives in Lake in the Hills with her husband, Jon, and their mini black Lab, Captain.
Outside of teaching and dance, she enjoys spending time with her family and continuing her education as she works toward becoming a K–12 Reading Specialist.
Whether she is in an elementary classroom or a dance studio, Sofia brings the same enthusiasm for helping young people learn, grow, and become confident in who they are.
